As in previous years, we once again participated at the 56th Power Plant Technology Colloquium in Dresden.
Managing Director Daniel Kaulbars gave a presentation on:
Vision 2045 - Energy autonomy for regional companies on the "Upper Saale" - From engery importer to regional producer of renewable energies to secure the locations for steel and paper manufacturing - Modelling of a future integrated energy system.
The "Upper Saale" region has the goal of becoming climate neutral by 2045 and utilizing renewable energies. With an expected increase in energy demand from the current approximately 1,850 GWh/a of predominantly fossil-based energy to over 4,000 GWh/a in the future, the region holds significant potential for locally generated renewable energy. The higher energy demand primarily results from the substitution of natural gas, which is currently used for process heat generation. The region is therefore focusing on innovative solutions and the integration of sector coupling.
A current project, initiated by the business association SaaleWirtschaft e. V., is using system modelling to evaluate the possibility of regional renewable energy generation to fulfil the climate targets while at the same time strengthening the local economy and creating new jobs.
